POSITRON ANNIHILATION STUDY ON RPV STEEL SPECIMENS
Vladimír Slugeň et al
The annealing behaviour of eight commonly used nuclear reactor pressure
vessel steels was studied using the positron annihilation lifetime
technique. Isochronal annealings of 30 minutes duration
between the
room temperature and 700 oC (steps of 50 oC and 25 oC in the most
interesting region) were performed in vacuum.
The interpretation of the experimental positron-lifetime results is
neither easy nor straightforward. However, there are observable
differences in the mean lifetimes not only between the Russian and western
types of steels but also between single specimens within these two
groups.
