PERFORMANCE OF ATM TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT AND ERROR CONTROL TECHNIQUES OVER SATELITE LINKS Survey

   The main purpose of this paper is to show majority of the problems encountered when the satellite links are used as a physical transmission medium for service transmissions by the asynchronous transfer mode (ATM). The error control of ATM is explored at physical and data link levels. For the appeared problems, the solutions like interleaving methods and other are briefly analyzed. The impact of high error rate and long propagation delay of the satellite links on ATM traffic management is also discussed.
