SHORT-CIRCUIT CURRENTS IN BUNDLED CONDUCTORS PARAMETERS SENSITIVITY ON THE MAXIMUM STRESSES

Moulary T. Lamchich - Jean L. Lilien - Mustapha El Adnani

Bundled conductors in open air substations contract in the case of a short-circuit. These cause a marked peak value of the tensile force, the so called pinch force, which may be crucial for the dimensioning of a substation. The pinch force is evaluated by advanced and simplified methods. The present paper deals with a parametric study which allows to show the sensitivity of the pinch force to various parameters influencing it. The paper is also focused on the comparison between the advanced method and a simplified, which is recently introduced in the International Standard Recommendations. The spacer compression evaluated by the well-known Manuzio formula is compared with the results of the advanced method.

Keywords: short-circuit, bundle conductors, electrodynamics forces.
