ROBUST STABILIZER OF ELECTRIC POWER GENERATOR USING H∞ WITH POLE PLACEMENT CONSTRAINTS
Mohamed Bouhamida - Mouloud A. Denai
This paper deals with the application of robust control theory to the design of
electric power system stabilisers. The well-known H∞ technique is
combined with pole placement constraints and solved with Linear Matrix
Inequalities approach. This convex optimisation problem guarantees robust pole
placement and leads to improved closed-loop system robustness and transient
response characteristics. Uncertainties are taken into account in a robust fixed
parameter and structure control law to allow for parameter variations and
perturbations acting on the electrical power system. The proposed controllers
are compared with μ-synthesis under a variety of operating conditions of the
electrical power network.
