   This paper is focused to Boolean representation of LUM (lower-upper-middle) smoothing filters. The capability to achieve the best balance between impulse noise suppression and signal details preservation predetermines the class of LUM smoothers for wide use. In addition, the LUM smoothers belong to the broad class of nonlinear filters called stack filters, that distinguish by easy hardware realization thanks to stacking property. The aim of this paper deals with derivation of positive Boolean function for various levels of smoothing done by LUM smoother. Next, the new algorithm of looking for minimal positive Boolean functions of LUM smoothers is presented.
