IMPULSE DETECTION BY ENTROPY DETECTOR (H-DETECTOR)

   This paper presents the use of a new entropy impulse detector (H - detector). The impulse noise removing methods are well known. The median filter is the most widely used. Thus, the image is filtered point by point and in many applications the filter itself introduces blurring, which may be more objectionable than the original noise. Consequently, approaches to identification of the impulse noise were developed. A new detector is compared with different methods. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated through subjective and objective criteria.
