THE PIONEERING WORK BY ZELLER ON TREEING IN INSULATING MATERIALS: SOME COMMENTS
George E. Vardakis - Michael G. Danikas
In this paper, comments are offered on the pioneering work of
H.R.Zeller about the initiation and propagation of
electrical treeing in solid insulating materials. The basic
aspects of Zeller's research are mentioned. His major
contribution, ie the development of the notion of the field
limiting space charge (FLSC) is approached critically and the
role of recombination of positive and negative
charges - not considered by Zeller - is discussed.
