AN EFFICIENT HEURISTIC METHOD FOR PLANNING ELECTRICAL NETWORK
Sobhy M. Farrag
In this paper, a new and simple heuristic planning approach
flexible to optimum design as well as to expansion planning of
electrical transmission, subtransmission and distribution
networks is presented. The procedure is initialized by
considering all possible lines and conforming dummy impedance
matrix for the fictitious network and a corresponding load flow
solution. A criterion is established to calculate the impact of
a line removal on the existing bus voltages and line flow
without the need to run a new load flow solution. Accordingly,
removing all possible lines successively except that causing
system disintegration or overloading leads to the optimal
configuration based on planning horizon year data. Examples have
been incorporated to illustrate the potentials of the proposed
approach.
