OPTIMAL PIECEWISE UNIFORM VECTOR QUANTIZATION OF THE MEMORYLESS LAPLACIAN SOURCE

In this paper we will present a design procedure of an optimal piecewise uniform
vector quantizer of a memoryless Laplacian source. We will derive expressions
for the granular distortion and the optimum number of the output points in each
subregion. We will also compare the obtained results with the results presented
in reference [7] and on the basis of that we will derive some conclusions about
the proposed models.
